Steps to delete your Tinder account

You can delete your Tinder account in a few easy steps, either on your iOS or Android phone or on a browser. You might choose to deactivate Tinder, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and other dating or social media apps if they have become too much of a distraction. Or maybe you feel uncomfortable with your personal information being available online.

Whatever your reason, here’s how you can delete your Tinder profile:

    1. Open the Tinder app, tap the Profile icon in the bottom-left corner, and click the Settings icon in the top-right corner.

    2. Scroll down and tap Delete Account. If you’re sure you want to proceed, confirm by tapping Delete my account.

Before you delete Tinder: essential considerations

Before deleting your Tinder account, remember that doing so is permanent and will erase all data associated with your profile. This means photos, messages, matches, likes, and other information will be lost forever. Be sure to review and back up any data you'd like to save before proceeding with deletion.

Downloading your data lets you keep a copy of some of the information Tinder has on you. Most dating sites and social media platforms, such as Facebook, let you download your data so you can see what information these sites collect. You can also check to see what Google really knows about you.

If you’re unsure about permanently deleting your Tinder account, you can simply pause it instead. This temporarily hides your profile and can be toggled on or off in the Settings menu under Enable Discovery. You can also adjust your privacy settings — just like on Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms — if you want to keep using the app while minimizing web tracking and enhancing your browsing privacy.

Simply deleting the Tinder app from your phone does not deactivate or delete your Tinder account. If you have a paid subscription, you’ll also need to cancel it separately, as deleting your Tinder account won’t automatically stop the subscription. Canceling first ensures you won’t be billed after account deletion.

You can cancel your Tinder subscription via iOS Settings > Subscriptions on Android in the Google Play app, or via the Tinder app by going to Profile > Manage Payment Account > Cancel Subscription.

Does deleting your Tinder account actually delete it?

If you delete your Tinder account, Tinder will store your data for 90 days as a safeguard in case they need to investigate any improper conduct. After this 90-day period, your data will be permanently deleted.

This will permanently wipe all your photos, messages, matches, likes, and additional data, and your profile will be removed from Tinder. If you decide to rejoin Tinder later, you will have to start from scratch — there’s no option to “resurrect” your deleted profile.
