Excel97Macro/Papa
MX97:Papa is an Excel 97 macro virus. It uses the technique which is simliar to infamous MW97:Melissa virus. When the infected spreadsheet is opened, it tries to send itself via e-mail to 60 people from the address book. Papa works with any MAPI-compatible e-mail program (for example Eudora, MS Mail, Outlook and Netscape). The subject of such email is "Fwd: Workbook from all.net and Fred Cohen" and the text says: "Urgent info inside. Disregard macro warning.". Message contains the infected attachment PASS.XLS
Dr. Fred Cohen did some early theoretical work on the abstract notion of self-replicating programs, which resulted in the term COMPUTER VIRUS. It has nothing to do with this virus, the virus author probably wants users to take this message more seriously and to harass Dr. Cohen. Virus also tries to overload the all.net server by repeatedly pinging it.
MX97:Papa has a serious bug in it's code and therefore it is not able
to work correctly. The corrected version appeared just several hours after
the initial release of buggy version however.
