Word97Macro/Pri-Q

was discovered in November 1999. It is the variant of Pri macrovirus with the mass mailing capabilities. The mass mailing was taken from the infamous Melissa virus. This is the reason why some antivirus programs call this virus Melissa, while others call it Prilissa (as combination of Pri and Melissa). The virus is email-aware and will send a copy of the infected document as an attachment to the first 50 entries in Outlook address book. The message it sends contains the following info:
                            Subject: Message from
Message Text: This document is very Important and you've GOT to read this !!!

Again, it  is able to infect many computers amazingly fast in the environment of Outlook and Exchange users.

On 25th December virus displays a message box with the following text:

Vine...Vide...Vice...Moslem Power Never End...
You Dare Rise Against Me...The Human Era is Over, The CyberNET Era Has Come !!!

and modifies the C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT file in such way, that it will try to reformat the drive C: during next reboot. It also inserts a random number of coloured shapes into the current document.

Avast is able to detect this virus as MW97:Pri family even with older VPS databases.
